Mackenziurus lauriae Revisited

by Kenneth C. Gass

You might remember, if you try,
Mackenziurus lauriae -
The trilobite I like the best -
My wife's namesake, unlike the rest.

Adrain and Edgecombe said they knew
This species was not one but two.
Although I was alarmed, indeed,
With further study, I agreed.

The holotype must bear the name.
The others just don't look the same.
It still resides in MCZ.
Professor Gould, remember me?

I named the new one for a friend,
Which he will be until the end.
He likes this creature. That is why
It's called "M. emielityi."
